Arrow Engineered Products specializes in providing world-class integrated design, engineering, and fabrication solutions, including high-quality engineered mixing, dispersion, and discharge systems to industrial and manufacturing clients.
Our AEP Stratford production facility specializes in multi-shaft mixing equipment designed for a wide range of industrial applications. From paints, coatings, and adhesives to food production, pharmaceuticals, oil and gas, mining, chemicals, and construction materials, our solutions are engineered to meet the diverse needs of these industries. We work closely with our clients to deliver custom-tailored systems that ensure superior performance, reliability, and consistency across all applications.
What Are Multi-Shaft Mixers?
Our highly engineered multi-shaft mixing systems are generally used for blending applications of medium or high-viscosity fluids, often with a range of phases that include gases, liquids, and solids. In most cases, multi-axis machines are used when the product’s viscosity starts from between 50,000 to 100,000 centipoise and ranges up to 4,000,000 centipoise.
The engineers at AEP Stratford can customize all design elements of these multi-shaft machines, including blade technology, shaft size, seal type, mounting configurations, and operating speeds and horsepower.
We carefully consider the size, position, and function of each shaft assembly as well as the cumulative mixing assembly due to the spatial constraints of the mixing vessel in order to deliver a consistent homogenous mixture. This is especially crucial if the mixing process requires gas and/or powder to be incorporated into a liquid phase.
The machines and tanks can be made from a range of carbon and stainless steel, with Hastelloy and Inconel as options to provide maximum strength, durability, and performance.
All AEP products are designed, built, and tested in-house, eliminating the need for our clients to deal with multiple suppliers. Our approach to providing high-quality, custom-made solutions improves collaboration, streamlines the manufacturing process, improves production scheduling, and saves our clients time and money.
AEP Stratford Solutions In Action
Here are two case studies where AEP engineers delivered to-spec concentric mixing equipment solutions to well-known global brands.
Case Study 1 – Supplying A Concentric Mixer To Our Client’s New Production Facility In The United States
This long-time client of Arrow is a global manufacturer of roofing materials and services, construction sealants, waterproofing systems, and other custom-designed construction and maintenance products, programs, and services.
The client is building a new production facility which required three concentric mixers as part of a larger Arrow equipment order.
We completed an initial discovery phase with the client to learn about their requirements, answer their questions, and finalize the final drawings. Our team then set to work to manufacture the new custom-engineered equipment to their exact specifications.
This concentric mixer features an internal sweep that wipes material off the edges of the removable 5-foot diameter tank and internal disperser shaft. The machine stands just over 16’ when extended up, with a footprint of 6’ x 13’. It is equipped with 75 and 150 hp motors and comes with its own hydraulic lift.
Case Study 2 – Supplying A Tri-Shaft System To A US-Based Client
Our client is a leading paint, coating, and adhesive manufacturer. With over 10,000 employees across two continents, they serve several markets and aftermarkets, including construction, consumer products, industrial, and transportation.
To increase production and expand product lines, we worked with our client to design a new tri-shaft mixer for their architectural division for the blending and suspension of thick, viscous materials such as paint and caulking.
After the initial discovery phase was completed, our team brought the client’s design to life. This unit has a footprint of 15’ x 6’ x 23’ extended, with the motors rated for 125/60/25 horsepower. The system also comes with its own hydraulic lift.
