The Starvision LS-6230 - Arrow EP OEM Metal Fabrication

Arrow Engineered Products (AEP) is recognized in the OEM metal fabrication industry for providing high-quality integrated design, engineering, fabrication, and assembly solutions for a wide variety of industrial applications.

One reason we’ve thrived and grown throughout our 102-year history is our ability to seamlessly integrate proven technology into our manufacturing processes to help improve our customers’ production scheduling, streamline manufacturing operations, deliver high-quality products sooner, and save our customers time and money.

For example, our AEP Cambridge North production facility uses the Starvision LS-6230 gantry milling machine to help bring customer projects to life. This tool has several features designed to support our fabrication teams in delivering products with improved accuracy, precision, and quality.

The Features And Benefits Of The Starvision LS-6230 Gantry Milling Machine

The Starvision LS-6230 gantry miller enhances our high-precision machining capabilities. Its ability to accurately and efficiently cut and shape large and complex workpieces with tight tolerances makes it an essential tool to support our customer projects, even in mass and batch production scenarios.

It features a double-column structure that holds the workpiece securely in place using flexible T-slots that provide superior rigidity and stability. The expansive 10 ft x 20 ft x 4 ft horizontal bed features multiple cutters that can simultaneously shape the object, reducing production time.

The high-speed spindle is equipped with a powerful 22/26 kW motor that runs at a standard speed of 4,500 rpm, making it the perfect tool for cutting a wide range of materials, from light specialty alloys to iron and steel. Cuts can be made along the X-, Y-, and Z-axes, with three sets of R65 linear guideways on the X-axis to ensure smooth and precise movements while reducing the potential of deflection.

The Starvision LS-6230 also features an automatic tool changer that holds a minimum of 32 tools. This allows for a wide range of tools to be automatically utilized when needed, eliminating the downtime necessary for manual tool changes.

This advanced fabrication machine’s functions are supported and controlled by modern computer numerical control (CNC) and computer-assisted design (CAM) technology, allowing it to integrate seamlessly with existing systems at AEP Cambridge North. The easy-to-use interface enables operators to program complex machining tasks with enhanced efficiency, reducing machine step times and improving overall process efficiency in the OEM metal fabrication industry.

How Will The Starvision LS-6230 Support Our Customer Projects?

This incredible fabrication tool helps us deliver customer projects in three distinct ways:

  1. Enhanced accuracy and precision

The ability to have multiple cutters work on the material based on CAD instructions through the CNC interface ensures consistently precise cuts. Added precision means less wasted material, optimized production time, and better performance in the final application.

  1. Faster project turnaround

With significantly reduced downtimes to make adjustments, change tools, or start over due to defects, the workpiece spends less time on the cutting bed. This allows manufacturers to optimize their production scheduling as the product is moved through the manufacturing process and into service sooner.

  1. Higher quality results

The Starvision LS-6230 uses automation technology to process the workpiece based on coded instructions from the CAD software via the CNC interface. Since the tools replicate the instructions the same way each time, you’ll get higher-quality results free from defects or deviations from the original design.
